Roman Catholic Cardinal. Born in Gorga, diocese of Anagni, Vincenzo Santucci frequented the Collegio Pamphilio of Rome and upon receiving the sacred orders, was named secretary to Cardinal Giacinto Placido Zurla OSB.Cam. Adjunct minutante of the Secretariat of State between 1832 and 1844, he was appointed substitute of the Secretariat of State and secretary of the Cipher on February 26, 1844. Named substitute 'ad interim' of the First Section of the Secretariat of State on July 24, 1847, Santucci served furthermore as secretary of the Sacred Congregation of Extraordinary Ecclesiastical Affairs, substitute of the Secretariat of State from July 11, 1850 till 1853, and consulter of the Sacred Congregation of the Holy Office. Pope Pius IX created him cardinal deacon in the consistory of March 7, 1853 with the deaconry of Ss. Vito e Modesto. Opting for the deaconry of Santa Maria ad Martyres on June 23, 1854, the following year he was decorated with the grand cross of the Austrian Order of Sankt Stefan. Prefect of the Sacred Congregation of Studies from November 14, 1856 until his death, which occurred on August 19, 1861 at Rocca di Papa, outside Rome, his body was exposed in the parochial church of Rocca di Papa and later buried, according to his will, inside the Patriarchal Lateran Basilica of Rome.
