Professional Football Player. John Phillips Isenbarger, a skilled wide receiver, that played in the National Football League (NFL). He was a top pick in the 1970 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers, where he played his entire NFL career (1970–1973). During his college days, he was a star player on the Indiana University football team. In 1974, he signed with the World Football League (WFL) and played for the Hawaiians. He decided to retire after the 1974 season, but his name remains etched in the Indiana Football Hall of Fame, where he was inducted in 1993. During his high school days at Muncie Central, he earned 3 letters in football, basketball, and track, making him a versatile athlete. He was named team MVP in football, basketball, and track 1965-1966, and was also UPI All-State and All-Conference 2 years in football as a quarterback and All-Conference and All-State as a guard in basketball. After retiring from professional football, he pursued a career as a sales representative.
