Actor. A recognizable character performer, he appeared in a wide range of TV programs and films during a more than 50 year career. He will be remembered by television audiences for his role as Royster in the series "Police Woman" (1974 to 1978). Abandoned by his mother and father during his early youth, he was raised by his aunt and uncle. He dropped out of high school prior to graduation and enlisted with the United States Marine Corps with whom he served in Korea following the conclusion of the war. After his return home, he found an interest in acting and with the aid of the G.I. Bill, he enrolled at the American Foundation of the Dramatic Arts in Philadelphia. He located to New York City and supported himself as a cab driver and waiter, before experiencing his break in entertainment with a minor role in the TV series "The Naked City" (1960). Among his other TV credits include "Batman," "Star Trek," "Mannix," "Mission: Impossible," "Kojak," and "Police Story." His film credits include "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" (1969) and "The Sting" (1973).
