Alice Gertrude Joyce Tilley, 92, of 1575 Stones Dairy Road, Bassett, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.

She was born in Patrick County on March 8, 1912, to George Cabel Joyce and Alice Susan Clark Joyce. She was the widow of Lemmie Lee Tilley, and was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Sally Mae Joyce Hutchinson, Virginia Joyce, Edna Joyce Tilley and Lucy Mat Joyce Boyd; and six brothers, Elder Roy T. Joyce, Jack Cabel Joyce, James Dudley Joyce, Fred Joyce, George Joyce and Claude Joyce.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are one daughter, Sharon Tilley Warren of Mechanicsville; one son, B. Leon Tilley of Charlottesville; four sisters, Juanita J. Stewart of Fieldale, Doris J. Anthony of Collinsville, Catherine J. Belton of Martinsville and Marie J. Harrington of Richmond; one brother, Raymond S. Joyce of Bassett; and four grandchildren.
