Actor, Director, and Professional Football Player. Before his acting career took off, Weathers was a football player for the NFL and Canadian Football League. He signed with the Oakland Raiders as a free agent in 1970 as a linebacker, helping them win the AFC West Division title before being released in 1971. After his release, he signed with the BC Lions and was active until 1973, playing a total of 18 games while attending San Francisco State University, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Drama in 1974. Weathers retired from football in 1974 to pursue a career in acting. Weathers began his acting career by playing extras in movies and television shows but got his first break in two Blaxploitation films, "Bucktown" and "Friday Foster." In the early 1970s, he appeared in guest roles on the hit TV series, "Good Times," "Kung Fu," "Starsky and Hutch," and "Barnaby Jones." It was in 1976 that Weathers would become a household name as Boxer Apollo Creed, alongside actor Sylvester Stallone in the movie "Rocky." Rocky became a Hollywood blockbuster that would have Weathers play Creed 3 more times in "Rocky II", "Rocky III" and "Rocky IV", which had his character infamously die at the hands of Russian Boxer, Captain Ivan Drago, played by Dolph Lundgren. After Rocky, Weathers began an Action movie career and would work with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1987 Sci-Fi Action - cult classic, "Predator," and starred in two movies of his own, "Action Jackson" and "Hurricane Smith." He recently played Greef Karga in the Star Wars spinoff, "The Mandalorian," for three seasons, earning an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor. Some of his other acting credits from movies and television include, "Happy Gilmore," "Little Nicky," "Toy Story 4," "In the Heat of the Night," "ER," "Chicago P.D.," "Law & Order: SVU," and "Magnum P.I."
