Professional Baseball Player. During her baseball career from 1950 through 1954, she proved to be an exceptional pitcher in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL). Initially, she joined the Rockford Peaches as a fourth outfielder and played first base, but her fluid overhand delivery was quickly noticed and she showed great potential as a pitcher. In 1951, she had an impressive record of 16–8 and a 2.85 earned run average in 30 games. She moved to the Battle Creek Belles in 1952 but rejoined the Peaches later that year to help the team in the playoffs. In 1953, with the Peaches, she recorded 143 strikeouts and a 2.82 ERA, going 10–12 that season. In 1954, she had a 5–8 record, which turned out to be the league's final season. Throughout her five-season career, she appeared in 92 games as a pitcher, recording a 34–42 record and a 3.33 ERA. She also played in three postseason games, with a 1–2 record. After retiring from baseball, she worked as a keypunch operator at several firms but remained active with the league by becoming an active collaborator of the AAGPBL Players Association. In her career, she played on the Championship team (1950), made two playoff appearances (1951–1952) and was the single-season leader in strikeouts (1953). She passed away at the age of 92.
