Death of Mrs. Perna Pray.

Mrs. Perna Pray died at the residence
of her son, Mr. Charles Pray of
Chicago, on Saturday, Jan. 12, of
bronchitis and grip. The remains
were brought to Chatfield for interment
and reached here on the noon
train Tuesday. The funeral took
place at 2 o'clock on the afternoon of
that day the services being held at
the Methodist church, conducted by
Rev. B. C. Gillis assisted by Rev.
Haley of Fillmore. The chief mourners
Were her two sons, Charles and
Francis Pray, her only surviving
children. There was a large attendance
of old friends.

Mrs. Perna Pray was loved by all
who knew her for the noble traits of
her character. She was a member
of the Methodist church and a devout
Christian. During her residence
in Chatfield she was connected with
the church here, but when she removed
to Fillmore transferred her
membership to the church there.

Mrs. Perna Pray was born May 7,
1822, near Rutland, Vt. Her maiden
name was Miss Perna Miner. She
was married to David Pray in 1839,
and made her home in the state of
New York until 1860, when they
moved to Jordan township this
county, and in 1881 moved to Chatfield.
where Mr. Pray died in February,
1889. Until 4 years ago Mrs.
Pray continued to live in Chatfield,
when she went to live with her
daughter, Mrs. R. C. Farrington of
Fillmore. Last August after the
death of her daughter, Mrs. Farrington,
she went to Chicago to live with
her son, Mr. Chas. Pray, who during
her declining years' tenderly cared
for her. She was laid to rest in the
cemetery here beside the remains of
her husband.
