She was born on January 10, 1948 to Clayton and O.V Patterson. Affectionately, she was known for her hats and pound cakes. She never met a stranger and always witnessed to everyone she met. She lived a life of serving her Lord and the community. She worked for Cleveland and Gaston County Schools in child nutrition and driving a bus. She also loved little children and worked in multiple daycares. Her love for the Lord allowed her to Minister to multiple Senior Communities, Catherine Booth, The Patrick Center, Kings Mountain Care Center, The Ivy and White Oak Manor. She retired from Wix Filters after 28 years of service. She pastored 3 churches, St. Titus African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Emmanuel Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church and Young's Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, before retiring from the Lincolnton District.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters Hattie P. Davis and Evangelist Letha P. Bristol, brothers Rev. James Patterson, John Patterson, Jerry Patterson, Charles "Chunk" Patterson and Larry Patterson.
She leaves to cherish fond memories, her husband of 58 years, Cleveland Brown, a daughter Regina Griffith (David) of Durham, NC, sons Cleveland Douglas Brown (Threcie), Jeffery Brown and Keith Brown all of Kings Mountain, NC, Scott Brown of Huntersville, NC, and Kevin Brown (Crystal) of Kingstown, NC. She has16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren that she helped raised. A sister, Mary Odems, of Gastonia, NC and a brother, Rev. Clyde Patterson of Alton, VA. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Rev. Nancy Brown will be held Friday, August 25, 2023 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Adams Chapel AME Zion Church, 212 Lake Montonia Road, Kings Mountain, NC.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday August 26th, 2023 at 2 pm at Trinity-Unity AME Church, 1638 Freedom Mill Road, Gastonia. Quite hour will be held from 1 to 2 pm at Trinity. Burial will take place at Adams Chapel Cemetery.
