Mr. Williams was born in the Beattie community in Comanche County, to the late Samuel Franklin and Ethel McCorkle Williams. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the battleship, USS Idaho. He moved to Waco in 1947 and retired from General Tire and Rubber in 1984 after 33 years of service. He married LaVern Marshall in 1978 in Beverly Hills. Mr. Williams had served in several community service organizations including 21 years with the Central Foundation and was a friend of Bill W. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
A step-son, Billy Lon Culver preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, LaVern Marshall Williams, of Beverly Hills; daughters, Cecilia Loftis and husband, Bo and Pam Downing and husband, Ron; and daughter-in-law, Shirley Culver; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Neal Williams and wife, Pat, of Waco; sister, Patsy Welch and husband, Jackie, of Arlington; and nieces and nephews, Linda Wernette, Kenneth Williams, Michael Williams, Vickie Cunningham, Kent Welch, Clinton Welch, and families.
