Mrs. Anna Ethel Lavender, 65, of 701 W. Monterey, Denison, Texas, died at Marshall Manor Nursing Home at 10am. Thursday after an extended illness. Mrs. Lavender was born Nov. 12, 1903 at Harleton, daughter of Katheryn Starr Davis, a native of Harleton and James Emory Davis, a native of Alabama. She received her education in the Harleton and Marshall schools. She and Alvin Lavender were married in Marshall on Feb. 18, 1927. Mrs. Lavender was a resident of Marshall from 1918 until 1949 when she moved to Denison to make her home. She was a member of the East End Baptist Church and a former member of the Rebekah Lodge of Marshall. She is survived by her husband: two daughters, Mrs. Del (Ermazelle) Heard of Marshall and Mrs. Ray (Billie Jean) Skinner of Longview; four sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Gilliam Mrs. Mildred Ford, Mrs. E.C. [Gladys]McBrayer, and Mrs. J.E.(Annie Mae) Carroll of Marshall; one aunt, Mrs. Sid (Mandy) Jones of Harleton; three grandchildren, Debra Jean Heard and Mark Heard of Marshall and Danny Skinner of Longview and a number of nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Raymond E. Davis, Johnny L. Davis, Douglas Gilliam, Ross Gilliam, Ray Staples and James E. Carroll.
