Obituary:
Carrie Parler-Gibson, of Fredericton, NB and New York City, NY died peacefully at Thomas Hall, Shannex in Fredericton, NB. She will be cremated as per her request.

Carrie ("Midgie") Parler-Gibson was born January 19, 1930, in Manhattan, New York City, NY to Daniel St. Clair Parler and Carrie Swensgard.

She graduated from William Howard Taft High School, Bronx, NYC in January of 1948 and went to work for Sinclair Oil Company, Rockefeller Center as a file clerk. She then worked for the Bronx Savings Band, first as a teller, and then as the secretary to the manager.

She was married January 2, 1953, at the University Presbyterian Church, Bronx, NYC by Rev. Sidney Menk, to Dr. Frank Blake Gibson, graduate of McGill University Dental School. After the birth of their only 2 living children, Scott and Karen, Blake and Carrie moved to Fredericton in September of 1956, where Blake set up a dental practice. They had four children, however, two sons died at birth.

Carrie took the first real estate course given by the province. Approached by the manager of Canada Life Insurance Co., she took a job there. After a few years, she decided to go to the NB Craft School and graduated in Enameling and Photography. Carrie often had stands at various fairs to sell her work. She had one of her paintings accepted in a juried art show, and she received a ribbon in her first ceramics show.

After that, she took a course in Genealogy at UNB Archives and became very involved in family research. With her ability in real estate, she sold their property at Scotch Lake and their home in Fredericton which they had built in 1962.

She spent many years at East Grand Lake near Fosterville, NB before moving back to Fredericton.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Blake, their two sons, Paul, and Gregg, as well as her two brothers, Daniel "CJ" Parler, Clifford Herndon Parler, her sister, Mary Ann Kisela, and her nephew Clifford Kisela.

She is survived by her son, Scott Blake Gibson (Teri Ann Campbell), her daughter Karen Elizabeth Gibson (Barry Hughes), grandson Christopher N. Gibson (Rachelle McLean), and several nephews and nieces.

Carrie wishes to thank all the family, good friends and neighbors, and all of the Staffs at Ste Anne's Retirement Home, the DECH, and Thomas Hall for the many kind things they have done for her. Her only request is a prayer on her behalf.
