Ernest W. McConnell

No services are planned for former Santa Cruz resident Ernest W. McConnell, who died Tuesday in Bend, Ore. He was 95.

Mr. McConnell was born in Ontario, Canada. He lived in Santa Cruz from 1965 to 1990 and also lived in Monterey before moving to Central, Oregon in 1998.

Mr. McConnell worked selling ice cream machines in Europe and the British Isles from 1938-39 and returned to teach flight school at Oklahoma's Fort Sill during World War II.

He was a builder in Dallas for 21 years and later worked as a real estate broker in California, selling motels.

Mr. McConnell was a member of Pasatiempo Men's Golf Association and was an avid golfer and bridge player.

He is survived by his wife, Ann McConnell of Bend; a son, Mark McConnell of Bend; a daughter Gayle McConnell of Monterey; and two grandchildren.

His son, Roy McConnell, died before him.

Arrangements are by Autumn Funerals.
