His brother, Nathan "Craig" Dacus'(who died 3-years later) was cremated & "at his request his ashes were spread on his grandfather's farm?

CHARLOTTE {NC} - Avery Dacus, Jr., 62, of Charlotte, passed away on July 30, 2014. Avery was retired after working 25 years with Lifespan (formerly St. Marks). He was dedicated to advocating and caring for individuals with special needs. Avery was a graduate of Gavit High School, Hammond, Indiana and UNC-Charlotte.


He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Dacus Slane and her husband, brother, Nathan Craig Dacus and nieces.


He was a devoted son to his late parents, Avery and Sarah Dacus.


He is predeceased by his sister, Linda Dacus McCoy.


Avery's life will be celebrated at Smokey Joe's Cafe, Charlotte, on Sept. 1, 2014, from 3-6pm.
