Ipswich, MA - After a two-year-long courageous battle with cancer, David A. Pitcairn, 54, of Ipswich, Mass., passed peacefully in his sleep on March 2, 2019.
David was born on July 30, 1964. He was the loyal husband to his wife, Yvette M. Pitcairn for over 20 years. He also had two treasured daughters, Madeline H. Pitcairn, age 20, and Emily E. Pitcairn, age 17.
His father, Alexander (Sandy) Pitcairn Jr. predeceased David. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Banks Pitcairn of Rowley, Mass., and his brother Douglas Banks Pitcairn (wife Sue) of Ipswich, Mass.
David was educated in business management at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. He later attended the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Wellesley, Mass.
David worked as a Wedding Disc Jockey, and at various radio stations. He was also the Master of Ceremonies for the North Shore Cancer Society's Celebration of Life for many years.
David was proud to continue the legacy of his father through his company; Pitcairn Construction.
David, a finish carpenter by trade, loved building and creating. Whether it be a house, ice rink, art studio, music room, stage, or obstacle course for some of the many neighborhood gatherings he loved to host. He loved the community and bringing people together.
In addition to his family and friends, David had a passion for sports. He was an avid hockey player and fan, ran cross country, and loved to mountain bike with his two daughters and friends alike. One of his favorite and most prominent roles was as the "Pitcairn Pond Rink Manager." Watching and assisting family and friends skating on one of his most prized possessions brought David so much joy, and his memory as a rink manager, father, husband, and friend will live on forever.
Relatives and friends were invited to a visitation on Friday, March 4, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S. Main St., Rt. 114, Middleton, MA.
