Herman Lane Pittman, Jr. passed away on June 17, 2022. A celebration of life and burial with the family will be held at the Shannon cemetery. Herman was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on February 24, 1935 to Herman and Florine (Sternadel) Pittman. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School. He served his country in the U. S. Navy on the USS Lexington air craft carrier. He often spoke fondly of his adventures and travels around the world while a young man in the Navy. He married Norma Faye Gibbons in 1960. They had five children David, Ralph, Michael, Marcella and Marlene. He is preceded in death by parents Herman and Florine, wife Faye, son Ralph, sister Werdna, sister Christie. He is survived by sons David Pittman of Houston. Michael Pittman and wife Griselda of Baytown, daughters Marcella Hughes and husband Charles of Spring and Marlene Wagoner and husband Robert of Scottsdale; brother Carl of Holiday, brother Rodney of Holiday, sister Patricia and husband Jearl of Joy, Five grandchildren, Ken, Chris, Leigha, Lauren and Michael, as well as, three great grandchildren. As a widower in 1969 he relocated to Houston with his children to be near his parents and the children's grandparents. Once the children were grown and into the world he moved back to Shannon to retire and care for his mother Florine until her death in 2008. His children want to express the depth of their gratitude and love for his sacrifices and facing life as a single father with four small children. We love you Dad and will never forget your blue eyes, laughter, stories, and unbridled optimism.
