Herbert was the son of Frank Chiara and Fannie Gionfiantini, married to Leah at the time of his death and employed as a Public School Administrator.

He enlisted in the military during WWII on 19 May 1943 in Salt Lake City, UT. Herbert was single without dependents and had 4 years of college.

NV death certificate shows he died 10 Feb 1964 in Ormsby County, NV.
NOTE: Ormsby County was a county in NV from 1861 until 1969. It contained Carson City, the county seat, and later, the state capital. It is know known as Carson City County.

Herbert Chiara was born on September 13, 1921 in Battle Mountain, NV, to Frank and Fannie Chiara. He was educated in the primary and secondary Battle Mountain school system. He graduated from the University of Nevada-Reno with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor in Education. He enlisted in the US Army in 1943 and completed honorable service in 1946. He returned to Battle Mountain and married Leah Swackhamer in 1950. He started his career in education in the Churchill County High School in Fallon, NV and went on to become Superintendent of Schools in Carlin, NV. He returned to Fallon schools as Superintendent from 1953 to 1956. In 1957 he was appointed Deputy Superintendent in the Reno sixth supervision district. He and Leah and children Christopher and Delaney moved to Carson City in 1958 to take a position as a principal and administrator with the Ormsby County School District. A third child, Geoffrey, was added to the family in 1959. Mr. Chiara completed a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Nevada-Reno in 1961. He was a member to numerous educational associations, including the Phi Delta Kappa educational fraternity, as well as a member of the Sierras Madre Council of the Knights of Columbus in Carson City. He passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 1964 at age 42.
