Ethel Louise Hoig March 20, 1931 - June 24, 2021
Ethel Louise Hoig, 90 of Mancelona passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born March 20, 1931 in Port Huron the daughter of Ernest and Ethel (Jefferson) Anger. Ethel loved her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She always enjoyed helping them and spending time with them. Ethel was strong in her Christian faith and a dedicated member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kalkaska. On April 27, 1950 in Pellston she married Wayne Hoig who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her son William, her parents, her brothers Albert, Ernest, Donald, Douglas, Duncan, and Everett her sisters Audrey Jackson and Lila Graves. Left to share her legacy of family and faith are her children Carol (David ) Cathey of St. Joseph, Ronald (Linda) Hoig of Mancelona, Kenneth (Faye) Hoig of Gaylord, Karen Hoig of Mancelona, Jeffrey Hoig of Mancelona, Laura (Michael) Viszmeg of Mancelona, Denise (Richard) Schroeder of Mancelona, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, a great great granddaughter, siblings Roger (Bonnie) Anger of Mancelona, Joyce (Robert) Matthews of Lexington, Janet Blair of Coloma, sister in law Kay Anger of Florida, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 30th at 11 a.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Benjamin Garcia officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.
