GIDEON SQUIRES was born on May 29, 1832 in New York. His parents were Gideon Squires and Esther (Deming) Squires. Gideon was married to Mary Ann Russell in 1856 at the age of 24. They had three children together; George A.(1852-1888), Esther C. (1859), and Heman S. (1862). His 2nd marriage was to Sarah Loucks on September 2, 1866 in Nelson Township, Kent county, Michigan at the age of 34. They had three children together; Charlotte A. Squires Richardson ( June 16, 1866 - 23 April, 1906), Arthur Gideon Squires (22 June, 1872 - May 14, 1946) and Jennie B. Squires Kilts (16 January, 1879 - 28 January, 1949). He settled in Oakfield Township as a farmer and owned real estate and property there. Later he moved to Courtland Township, Kent county, Michigan owning a farm and real estate. He died on March 7, 1893 at the age of 60 in Nelson Township, Kent county, Michigan of Lagrippe.*According to Death Certificate he was age 64 at his death. A large funeral was held at The Cong't Church 9th with Rev. Flint that was said to be an excellent sermon. *Gideon's headstone says he was born May 20, 1832 however census documents say he was born on May 29, 1932.
