John Reese died last night at the home of his son George, near Reamsville. He was 81 years of age and the past year of two has been a great sufferer. Mr. Reese was born in Maryland and served as a soldier in the Mexican War. He lived in Illinois several years and from there came to Hardin County, Iowa where he resided for 18 years. In 1880 he came to Smith County where he has since resided. The funeral will take place tomorrow and he will be buried beside his wife, who died ten years ago, in the Reamsville Cemetery.
