On Saturday, January 23, 2021, we lost our loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend.
June Conkel, 83, was born in Dallas on December 6, 1937, and spent her early years in Pleasant Grove. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1956.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Eula Mae Scirratt, husband, Cleo Conkel, sister Sue and husband Frank Nall, and brother Ben Scirratt.
She is survived by children, Cindy and husband Mike Boggs of Rowlet, Kraig and wife Denise Hopkins of Plano, and Keith Hopkins of Plano. She was blessed with two grandchildren, Brandi and husband Justin Rucker of Dallas, and Matt and wife Dawn Boggs of Rockwall. June was MawMaw to 7 great grandchildren, Charlie, Luke, Sydney and Grace Rucker, Erin Howard, and Miles and Kennedy Boggs. In addition to her immediate family, June is survived by her sister Glenda and husband Carroll Benson of Rockwall, nieces and nephews Sherry Herald, David Scirratt, Stacey Steelman, and Doug Zuhde.
June is retired from First State Bank in Mesquite in 2002 following 28 years of service. She was a long-time member of Eastridge Park Christian Church of Mesquite.
June's family is eternally thankful for the loving care and support given by Epi Dube and Noma Khumalo of Greenfield Residential Care Home in McKinney, Texas.
A memorial service will be conducted by Reverend Dan Carroll on Friday, January 29, 2021, at 12:30 PM in the chapel of Laurel Oaks Funeral Home in Mesquite, Texas.
