STEWARTVILLE -- The funeral for Helen Muehlethaler will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Elgin, Iowa. Burial will be in Elgin (Iowa) Cemetery.
Mrs. Muehlethaler, 95, of Stewartville, formerly of Elgin, Iowa, died Monday (Oct. 8, 2007) at the Stewartville Care Center, following a brief illness.
Helen Baechler was born July 30, 1912, in rural Elgin, Iowa. She lived most of her life in Elgin, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Tabitha Society and the Progress Club. She met Clarence Muehlethaler at the First Baptist Church, and they were married Aug. 27, 1934. She enjoyed singing in the First Baptist choir and teaching children's Sunday School.
Survivors include two daughters, Bev (Max) Broadwater of Stewartville and Joan (Tom) Knighton of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home in Elgin, Iowa, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the church.
