Hereford, Dec. 9 (Special)--George Mathews, 37, of 326 Ave. I, died at 10 a.m. today in Deaf Smith County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Rose Chapel of the Gilliland Funeral Home with the Rev. V.W. Marcontell, pastor of the Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery.

Mr. Mathews, born May 2, 1925 , in Seymour, moved to Hereford in 1958 from Amarillo. On Dec. 22, 1947, he married Miss Christen Hunter in Paducah. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church and a World War II veteran. He had been night watchman with the city police force.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Nancy Lee and Oneta Kay and a son, Billy Joe, all of the home; a brother, Henry of Hereford; four sisters, Mrs. Nell Fleming of Rising Star, Mrs. Veda Mae Flippin of Corpus Christi, Mrs. Ina Bell Villarreal of Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Mary Phillips of Muleshoe and his mother, Mrs. T.G. Mathews of Rising Star.
