Son to the late Leather & Ozzie Thompson. He served in the US Army from 1959 to 1961. He played baseball in the minors with the Cleveland Indians. He coached the N. Chicago Flames youth football, was a member of Blue Sox Baseball Club, Old Timer, Outcast and All Star Club. He was inducted into the N. Chicago Community HIgh School Baseball Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his second wife, Mae, daughter Anita, brother, Eugene, former wife, Mary. He is preceded in death b a son William Jr., brothers, Johnny, Cleo, Tommie, Leather, Robert, Emmitt, Cleo, Nealie and Mary.
