Sudden Death, Frank Hartlerode, whose home was in Meadville, PA, came to Ravenna on train 3, Sunday evening, to visit relatives and friends and died suddenly, at the Erie station, of heart disease.

The deceased was born in the south part of Ravenna township, and was one of a family of 14 children of John and Eliza Hartlerode. Only four of whom survive, namely; Lawrence who resides here, George, and Josephine Mrs. McNeil, of Meadville, and Elizabeth, wife of Mills McManus, of this city.

In the early days of the A & G W RR, Frank, in company with his brothers, Jacob Lawrence and George, accepted positions on the road. Frank in time becoming a locomotive engineer. In which capacity he served the company faithfully for about 25 years, and for a year or more past has held a responsible positions in the Meadville round-house. Being in poor health this summer he was obliged to take a vacation, and finally feeling a little better, he decided to come to Ravenna for a short visit. Arriving here Sunday evening, he walked over to Mr Welte's place and asked for a glass of water, saying he was feeling badly and did not like the water on the car. He drank the water putting a peppermint lozenge in his mouth, started back to the station saying he would try to get up town. A freight train stood on the track and just as he reached it he leaned against a car a moment and fell to the ground. Mr Welte hurried to his assistance, and found him lifeless. Others came to his assistance and carried him into the station. Word was sent to his relatives and the remains were conveyed to the residence of his brother, on Spruce street.

Mr Hartlerode leaves a wife and three daughters, who arrived Monday evening. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to them in their deep affliction.

Funeral services were held at 2 p m today from the Universalist Church, Rev Andrew Willson officiating and were largely attended. The remains will be buried in the family lot at Maple Grove Cemetery. Democratic Press 21 Sep 1892 pg 3
