Services for Vance Vinson, 89 of Boston will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Morningside United Methodist Church, Thomasville Ga. Rev. Kelley Hand will officiate and interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Daniel Berisford, Vance Berisford, Buck Booker, Craig Moore, Ethan Vinson and Keith Ansley. Mr. Vinson passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 in Tallahassee. He was born March 9, 1926 in Thomas County. He was the son of Paul L. Vinson and Addie Lou Barden Vinson, both who precede him in death. He was also preceded in death by 5 brothers, Byron Vinson, James (Skip) Vinson, Pete Vinson, Jim Vinson and Gene Vinson; 2 sisters, Addie Vinson Ansley and Pauline Vinson Griffin. Mr. Vinson was a WWII Army Veteran who served in the Philippines. He was a loving, faithful, devoted father and grandfather who raised his own family and more to work hard, to tell the truth and to give someone a hand up when in need. For years he was a farmer, working hard, was a man of his word and was blessed to prosper, successful by any ones standards. As a friend, he was trustworthy and loyal. He believed that a handshake was a contract not to be broken. Jesus said in Matthew 5:37, Let your yes be simply yes and your no be simply no; anything more than that comes from the evil one. Mr. Vinson is survived by his wife, Doris Ansley Vinson of Boston; daughter & son-in-law, Diane & Rich Pierce of Sweetwater, TN; Keith Ansley of Macon, who was like his own son; sister, Ida Butler of Boston; 4 grandchildren, Daniel Berisford and wife Amanda of Dallas, Ga, Vance Berisford of Kennesaw, Ga., Jennifer Dekeyser and husband Michael of Leesburg Fl. and Vicki Hand and Husband Kelley of Chandler, AZ. Mr. Vinson also has 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; special friends and neighbors, Franklin & Charlene McGalliard and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7PM, Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the funeral home.
