A native of Cherokee County, he was married to Rosa Webb Moss of the home. He was a son of Ambros and Maggie Wilson Moss.

He was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church.

He served in the US Navy during WWII.

In addition to Rosa, his wife of 67 years, he is survived by three sons, five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, and one brother.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
