Daniel B. "Cokey" Alvey, 90 died March 5, 2002. Funeral services are pending at Riley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Murphree Cemetery in Evant.

He was born Aug. 31, 1911 in Dallas County, the son of J.Q. and Samantha Alvey. Mr. Alvey grew up in west Texas. He lived in Carlsbad, NM for many years.

He was a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy during World War II and won the Purple Heart while serving in the Pacific.
Mr. Alvey was a member of the Trinity Memorial Baptist Church in Marlin. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mabel Marshall Alvey.

Survivors include his wife Sue; his brother Melvin; many nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.
