Dewey W. Wheat, 88, of Olney, formerly of Newton, IL passed away February 25, 2019 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

Dewey was born August 9, 1930 in Olney, IL, the son of Horace and Isabelle (Anderson) Wheat.

He married Marvenne (Kocher) on August 25, 1960 at St. Joseph Church in Stringtown, and she survives him.

Dewey worked at Kralis Brothers for over ten years until their closing, and then he worked at Roadmaster until his retirement. In his retirement, he enjoyed doing yard work, being outside, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events or listening to their games on the radio. He also loved watching a plethora of good TV. Dewey was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Olney.

Dewey is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marvenne of Olney; daughters, Denise (Patrick) Lee of Sugar Land, TX and Milissa (Gregg) Weber of Newton, IL; sons, Darrin (Sarah) Wheat of Lee's Summit, MO and Marlon (Tracy) Wheat of Newton, IL; twelve grandchildren, Brandon Lee, Jeremy Lee, Matthew Lee, Tyler Weber, Travis (Erica) Weber, Timothy Weber, Emma Wheat, Olivia Wheat, Harrison Wheat, Lindsey (Aaron) Friel, Jacob Wheat, and Samuel Wheat; sister, Virginia Ann (Wilford) Stark of Arcola, IL; brothers-in-law Donald (Gertrude) Kocher, Keith (Linda) Kocher, and Darius (Amber) Kocher; sisters-in-law Angie (Henry) Klinger, Elaine Morlan, Yvonne (Ron) Schneider, Carleen (Danny) Carlson, Mary Kocher, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant grandson Owen Wheat, infant brothers Lowell and Bernie; brothers Paul Wheat and Roy Wheat, and sister, Twila Jones Perkins; brothers-in-law, Gordon Jones, Hilary "Lary"and Delmar Kocher; sisters-in-law, Mildred Wheat and Virginia Wheat.

Memorials can be made for Mass intentions or St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Stringtown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, with a visitation beginning two hours prior. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Stringtown.
