Mary Josephine Coburn was born about 1854 in Little Rock, Arkansas. At the age of five, she came with her parents to East Texas. When only fifteen years of age, in December 1869, she married Sam Fleming, a native of Alabama. To this union were born nine children. Sam died in August of 1903 and sixteen years later she was married to R. VonDohlen at Fairview.

For 53 years she was a faithful member of the Christian church. The last two years of her life were spent as an invalid in the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. O. (Birdie Lee Fleming) Barnett, where she passed away on January 19, 1931.

She was a dear mother, wife and friend. The hardships and trials of her years made her life all the sweeter.

She was buried Tuesday afternoon at Whon Cemetery, where Elder Salyer of Bangs, held the service, with the Santa Anna Undertaking Company in charge of the funeral arrangements.
