Mattie Boone Benningfield, 94, passed away at her home in Rockport, Texas on November 8th, 2015 with her family by her side. She was born on July 7th, 1921 in Cuero, Texas to Jack and Molly Boone. She married George W. Benningfield in 1937. She and her family relocated to Rockport in 1952.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Rockport and taught Sunday school there for many years. She also worked for the Aransas County Independent School District for 30 years in the food service department.
She is preceded in death by her husband George; son, James Ray Benningfield; grandson, Michael Vargo Jr; son-in-law Howard Murph and son-in-law Rex Allen Moon. In addition to her parents she is also predeced in death by two sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her daughters Janice Murph, Jane Mosier (Bob), Georgia Townsend (Clyde), Lou Vargo (Mike); daughter-in-law Shirley Benningfield; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
A visitation will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015 from 900 am 200 pmwith the funeral service starting at 200 pm at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport, Texas. Interment will follow immediately after at Rockport Cemetery.
