Evelyn (Eve) Eminhizer November 22, 1927 August 8, 2018 On August 8, 2018, Evelyn "Eve" Eminhizer age 90, passed away peacefully at her home in San Diego, Calif. She was born on November 22, 1927, to Dewey and Emma Sherry, of Milesburg. She spent her early life there and attended Bellefonte High School. On November 10, 1944, she married Russell "Russ" Eminhizer, who after graduating from Bellefonte High School in 1944, served in the Navy until late in 1945. Eve and Russ moved to Lemont, in 1947, where they raised sons, Charles, Dennis and David. Russ returned to the Navy serving from 1950 to 1952. Upon his return, he was appointed Postmaster in Lemont. Eve joined him as a postal clerk about a year later. They loved their work and the people they served. After nearly thirty years, they retired from the US Postal Service in 1981. After retiring, they traveled throughout the United States and wintered in the Phoenix and San Diego areas. In 1987, they moved permanently to Ramona, Calif., to be near their sons' families. They returned nearly every year to the Lemont area to visit friends and family, usually during Grange Fair. Eve considered Lemont her "real" home and would have returned there permanently if possible. After Russ died in May 2015, she moved to San Diego to be closer to her sons. Eve was a devoted mother and wife of 70 years. She especially enjoyed attending Russ' softball games and bowling matches where they made many lifelong friends. She enjoyed raising her sons, gardening, attending house auctions and socializing with family and friends. Preceding her in death was Russ in 2015; her son Dennis in 1972; brother Charles Sherry; and sister, Florence Lee. She is survived by sister, Marion Nichols, of Retsof, N.Y.; and brother, James Sherry, of Julian. She is also survived by her son Charles and his wife Linda, and their sons Dennis and Erich, and Erich's wife, Anneli and their son Wesley. Also surviving is her son Dave and his wife Lisa, and their children Sydney and Trevor. Interment will be in the Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, Calif.
