Musician. Born Robert George Pickett in Somerville, Massachusetts, he was a pop singer dubbed Boris for his dead-on impression of actor Boris Karloff. In October 1962, with his group "Bobby 'Boris' Pickett & The Crypt-Kickers", he recorded the song "The Monster Mash". The single became an instant million seller, reaching number 1 on the Billboard chart for two weeks before Halloween. With the success of "The Monster Mash", he released the follow-up hit "Monster's Holiday" in December 1962. His other monster-themed recordings included "Werewolf Watusi", "The Monster Swim", "Star Drek", "The Monster Rap" and "Climate Mash" released in 2005. He died of leukemia in Los Angeles, California.
