William Michael Hepfer, the son of Stephen and Gertrude Hoepffer, was born in Heidelberg Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania on April 16, 1777. He married Eva Maria Saltzgaber at Christ Lutheran Church, Stouchsburg on December 6, 1803, and they had nine children: John, Lydia, Sarah, Jonathan Peter, Catharine, Samuel, Mary Eva, Isaac and Henry.
After his father's death in 1817, Michael was granted Letters of Administration, and settled his father's estate through the Lebanon County, Pennsylvania Orphan's Court.
Michael moved his family to Jackson Township, Richland County, Ohio in ca 1833. After 1840, they sold their land and moved to Fulton County, Ohio. Michael was a farmer for most of his life.
Michael died on December 9, 1867, and was laid to rest at Olive Branch Cemetery, Williams County, Ohio.
