A recent discovery has led me to rethink whether Thomas was indeed married 3 times. Based on DNA data, and some research I believe Thomas Lowery was the son of John Lowery who died in 1818 Clarke Co, AL. Minor children of John Lowery were bound out to the keeper of the poor, John D Curtis in Clarke Co, AL. By spring of 1819 they were bound to others. As we all know Thomas applied and paid for a land patent in western Pike Co, AL. John D Curtis also applied for a land patent in Pike Co adjacent to Thomas. There are records showing a George Lowery was paid fees for maintenance of a minor child, either Thomas or Zyntha "Sina/Sena".

I honestly believe Thomas DID NOT marry a Sarah Parker in Newton Co, GA in 1831, since he was probably the son of John Lowery who was in Clarke Co, AL in 1813 until his death. So were George and James who are believe to be brothers or close relatives of Johns. Both James and George where near Thomas, James in Butler Co and George in Pike Co.

I believe that Thomas married Callie Godwin about 1830-1831 in Pike Co, but since the marriage records where not recorded prior to 1834, they married in a church or by a JP. John D Curtis upon leaving Clarke Co, AL around 1828 and moving to Pike Co, was commissioned a Justice of the Peace. Since Thomas and John Curtis were probably close, John would have married him. Why you might ask would Thomas marry Callie Godwin again in 1838 Texas. I believe he had to since he was in the process of applying for a land patent and it required that he be married. Since he could not prove a marriage in AL took place, he married Callie on 21 Mar 1838 and then filed for his patent on 23 Mar 1838.

In the fall of 1835 Thomas travels to San Augustine Co, TX to solidify his presence in Texas. Once he did so, he returned to Pike Co, AL where he sold off his property to Robert Franklin and Lovitt Dorman. Lovitt was married to Elizabeth Godwin, Callie's sister. Callie Lowery was signatory to release of dowry deeds on the property sold by Thomas before they left for Texas in Jan 1836.

There are several DNA matches to Sina Lowery descendants as well as a possible sibling Mary Lowery who married Eli Reeves. It just so happens that one of my DNA matches to Sina also matches to a descendant of George Lowery, who may be a brother to Thomas.

I have not removed Sarah Parker as a wife to Thomas as of this time. I would very much like to discuss this new info and scenario with fellow researchers of Thomas Lowery. I think after I give you all the info I have, you will then start to believe as I do.
