Services were held this afternoon over the cremated remains of Thomas Gates Forster, the spiritualist, at No. 916 H street, previous to their removal to Greenmount Cemetery, at Baltimore. The ashes, taken some time ago from the crematory, were inclosed in an urn of galvanized silver, about eighteen inches high. This was placed on a table in front of one of the mantels in a double parlor. A wreath surrounded the urn, and some light vines were trailed from the table up to the chimney piece. Above the urn was placed a portrait of the deceased. Shortly after 3 o'clock the parlors, hall and stairway were filled, the assemblage being composed mostly of spiritualists. The exercises consisted of addresses, music and recitations. Geo. A. Bacon, A. V. Wheelock and Anthony Higgins spoke with solemnity of the passage of Thomas Gates Forster from the earth-world to the spirit-world: Dr. N. Frank White recited "One Who Died at Azan:" Mrs. A. M. Glading delivered a message from the spirit of Forster and offered prayer. The exercises concluded with the singing of the hymn "We Shall Meet Beyond the River," and the assemblage, after viewing the urn, separated. The urn will be interred in Mrs. Forster's lot at Greenmount Cemetery next week.
