Kittie Chambliss 94 of Portales, N.M., left this world on March 10, 2007, at the Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales. Kittie was born March 9, 1913, in Potosi, South Taylor County, Texas, to John and Della Williams Perdue. She was married to Leonard Chambliss, on April 2, 1932, in Eastland County. Leonard preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1994. Kittie was a homemaker all her life and was a great wife and mother, being always pleasant and happy, traits which characterized her throughout her later years. Kittie was a member of the Baptist Church. Kittie and Leonard had five children, one daughter and four sons. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia who died as an infant and a son, Carl Eugene Chambliss who died in 1997. Her surviving children are Walter L. Chambliss, of Portales, N.M., Malcom Homer Chambliss, of Beasley, Texas and Larry L. Chambliss, of Magnolia, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Perdue, of Lubbock; and one sister, Myrl Osborne, of Garland, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in San Angelo, Texas, with the Rev. Bert Bronaugh officiating.
She will rest next to Leonard. She will be missed.
