NORTH SMITHFIELD - Donald F. Gardner, 85, passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of the late Eleanor O. (Pratt) Gardner. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Alfred B. and Esther B. (Farnsworth) Gardner.

Mr. Gardner was a service technician for the Sears Company for 38 years before retiring in 1994. He enjoyed working the land at the Gardner Homestead and was a master craftsman who could repair anything. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, achieving the rank of sergeant, and was a member of the Greenville Baptist Church.

He was the loving father of Allan D. Gardner, Anne M. Gardner and the late Nancy Gregoire, grandfather of Sarah F. Gregoire, Joseph L. Gregoire, Matthew A. Gardner and the late Roger B. Gregoire, and the brother of the late Alfred B. Gardner Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service Thursday, Sept. 21, at 10 a.m. in the Greenville Baptist Church, 582 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Visitation is Wednesday, 5 to 8 p.m., in the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Pike (Route 44), Greenville. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
