She was a critic of art, curator and Italian university researcher. Francesca Alinovi's interests focus on the history of avant-garde and contamination between the various arts: painting, theater, sculpture, music and comics. During her travels to New York, she joins New Wave and Lower East Side artists, including Ann Magnuson, Kenny Scharf and Keith Haring. In 1981 she discovered Fashion and the Graffiti of the South Bronx. Attentive to its contemporary art scene, she soon becomes a sort of talent scout of Italian and American artists. Francesca Alinovi was killed, presumably, in the late afternoon of June 12, 1983 in her apartment in Bologna, via del Riccio 7. The crime was attributed, by a judgment of the Court of Appeals of Appeal of Bologna confirmed by the Court of Cassation, To Francesco Ciancabilla, a young painter resident in Pescara with whom the woman had established a troubled sentimental relationship that lasted for two years.
