ELKHART- Ginger R. Hanson, 61, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at her residence. She was born August 4, 1955 in Houston TX to William J. and Patricia L. (Madlem) Mazurkiewicz. In addition to her father, other survivors include her daughter, Lisa (Doug) Wilson of Elkhart; 2 sons, Edward (Tammy) Hanson Jr. of Edwardsburg, MI and William Hanson Sr. of Elkhart; 3 sisters, Patty Nichols of Elkhart, Sherry Donnelley of Goshen and Carolyn Mazurkiewicz of South Bend; brother, William “Billy” Mazurkiewicz of Elkhart; former husband of 17 years, Edward Hanson Sr. of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and her partner, best friend and caregiver Holly Dye who preceded her in death in 2015. Ginger and Holly were together for 25 ½ years and were avid fans of Notre Dame and enjoyed fishing and spending time with family. Ginger worked at Whitehall Laboratories for 7 years and Valley Screen for 7 years until she became ill with cancer. Her message to all was to find your soul mate, happiness and to appreciate everyone and every moment in life. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Elkhart Cremation Services, 2100 W. Franklin Street, Elkhart, is entrusted with her arrangements.
