Nancy Lee Barkley, 83, of Perryton, Texas went to be with her Lord in heaven on April 19, 2017 in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Perryton, Texas, with Rev. Mark Metzger officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery, and arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton, Texas.
Mrs. Barkley was born on Mother's Day, May 14, 1933 in Perryton, Texas to Nora Richardson Dodd and Cecil Dodd. After high school, she attended Texas Tech University and graduated with her bachelor's degree in teaching and became an elementary school teacher. While she was teaching in Corpus Christi, she met and married a young man in the marines, Jean Roger Kutchmarek, and they had two children, William Jene (Bill), deceased, and Kay Lynne McGregor.
After their divorce, Nancy and her two children settled back in Perryton where Nancy began teaching again. Nancy was active in her church of First United Methodist Church and with her many friends, both from the military and home life, even working with her sorority, Delta Gamma.
Nancy again married in 1978 to Moe Leatherman, a farmer, and avid RC plane builder, flyer and rifle marksman. He passed away about a year and a half later.
Nancy later started square dancing and met and married her third husband, Howard Barkley, in 1987. Howard was a retired farmer from Gruver, Texas. Nancy and Howard enjoyed square dancing, golfing, going on cruises, gambling in Las Vegas, and their many kids and grandkids to keep themselves busy, until his death in 2002.
Nancy is survived by her daughter Kay McGregor and Kay's two children, Brian William Sheriff and his fiance' Teri Rose Johenan in Tempe, Arizona, and Michael Lloyd McGregor in Amarillo, Texas. She is also survived by Howard's five children, Dan Barkley and wife Cathy, their daughter Melanie Cline and granddaughter Elizabeth Cline in Duncanville, Texas, and their son Christopher Barkley and wife Theresa in Long Beach, California, Arlene and Jerry Biebesheimer in Conway, Arkansas, their son Michael Biebesheimer and wife Jennifer and their twin babies Fiona and Matilda in Bella Vista, Arkansas, Tim Barkley and wife Teresa in Gruver, Texas, and their daughter Timber Barkley in Abilene, Texas, Scott Barkley and wife Carla in Andrews, Texas, Scott's daughter Jessica Barkley, son Jeremy Barkley and wife Jennifer, grandchildren Makenzie and Ethan, all of Amarillo, Texas, Scott and Carla's son Tucker Barkley of Sylmar, California, their daughter Kelcee Bauert and husband Kenny, and their three sons Kyler, Karson and Kolton of Borger, Texas, Roger Barkley and wife Kenna of Collinsville, Oklahoma, and their three children Hannah, Alyssa and Sutton Barkley.
Mrs. Barkley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Moe Leatherman, her husband Howard Barkley, and a son William Jene Kutchmarek.
