Willadene Campbell Varnadore, 89, of San Angelo, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017, in a local care center.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 27, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Harper Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 am Friday, April 28, in the Old Runnels Cemetery, with Mills Caraway officiating.

Willadene was born February 3, 1928, in Ballinger, TX to Dewey Arthur Campbell and Mamie Little Campbell. She graduated from San Angelo High School and soon married Johnny Lawrence Varnadore.

One of Willadene's greatest gifts was to serve her country through the Civil Service in Washington D.C. at the Pentagon, more specifically in the War Department and Naval Research Laboratory. After the death of her husband Johnny, Willadene transferred to Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring and later to Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo where she eventually retired as a librarian.

Willadene was preceded in death by her husband Johnny, her parents Dewey and Mamie, a brother Winfred Campbell, and a grandson James Michael Varnadore.

Willadene is survived by her son, Mike Varnadore of San Angelo; one granddaughter, April Lange and husband BJ and one great granddaughter, Caitlin, all of New Braunfels; nieces, Jan Campbell Bynum and Betsy Campbell Rutledge; nephews, Rick and Jason Campbell; all of the Turner relatives; and a host of friends and relatives.
