Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 13th, at the Anderson Funeral Homes, in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 12, 2017, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, in Marshalltown. The family requests that memorials be directed to Iowa River Hospice.
Dorothy was born December 18, 1924 in Tama, Iowa. The daughter of John C. and Emily E. Wiese Overturf. She received her education in the Tama school system, graduating from Tama High School in 1942. She was united in marriage to George E. LaMasters on August 3, 1944 at the Tama United Methodist Church. Dorothy was employed at Fidelity Brenton Bank in Marshalltown as a teller for many years. One of the greater loves of her life were her children and grandchildren.
Left to cherish Dorothy's memory is her husband, George, of 72 years, 2 sons and a daughter. Larry (Laura) LaMasters of Fairbank, IA. Rick (Cindi) LaMasters of Marshalltown and Jane LaMasters Butz (Steve) of The Woodlands, Texas. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a brother Kenneth Overturf of Iowa Veteran's Home, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Bea Barnsten and Alice Berger.
