Elliott Hopper was the son of James Marion Hopper, born in Alabama and Mary Ann Nix Hopper, born in South Carolina. The family lived for a short while in Ellis County, Texas where James and Mary Ann died and are buried.

Elliott married Mamie Tune of Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas on 22 May 1904 in Ellis County. Mamie was the daughter of James Elihu Tune and Elizabeth Ann Beckum Tune, widow of William P. Tune, brother of James Elihu Tune.

This Tune family was from Mt. Pleasant, Maury County, Tennessee. Elliott was a farmer and died thirty-three years prior to Mamie's death.
