Mary Elizabeth (Watkins) Watson passed away on February 14, 2017 at the age of 96 in Richardson, Texas. She was born on February 28, 1920 in Kemp, Texas to Chaillie and Alma Watkins. She attended Rice University and Southeastern Oklahoma receiving a BS in Education and then earned MS from Lamar University. Mary retired after teaching 36 years in the Port Neches-Groves ISD. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Port Arthur before moving to Richardson where she attended Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church. She loved the Cowboys, traveling, and playing bridge at the Richardson Senior Center. Mary will fondly be remembered for her wit and dry sense of humor. She was preceded in death by husband Floyd; sister, Eugenia Lorenz; brothers, Ben Jack and George Fite Watkins; and nephew, Turney Watkins. Survivors include her son, Floyd "Terry" Watson and his wife Nancy of Richardson; granddaughter Elizabeth Watson of The Colony; nieces, Debbie Watkins and Bonnie Blue McDaniel; nephews, William Watkins and Bobby Watkins. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
