Donald R. Barnett, 69, of 158 E. Taswell St., Equality, died 8:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at his residence.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality with Pastor Jack Hall and the Rev. Bill Jones officiating. Burial will be in Cottage Grove Cemetery near Equality with military rites by McLain-Glover Legion Post No. 595 of Equality. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at the funeral home.

He was born Dec. 16, 1936, in Leamington to Gusta Irene (Leonberger) and the late Noble Barnett. On Dec. 25, 1956, he married the former Mary Lou Mann, who survives.

He retired from the Army Corps of Engineers as a master sergeant in 1977, having serving in the Vietnam era. He was a member of McLain-Glover Legion Post No. 595 of Equality and the Non-Commissioned Officers Association. He was a retired mail carrier for Harrisburg.

In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Patton and Debra Barnett, both of Equality; a son, Stacy Barnett and Shelley Waible of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; a brother, Harlin (Jean) Barnett of Murphysboro; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Fund, Cancer Fund or M.D. Fund.
