Laura Sue Clampitte, went to be with the Lord on February 26, 2016 after several years of debilitating diseases, surrounded by her loving family.

Laura was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on April 22, 1947, to Clarence Cecil Eugene Lee and Lillian Box Lee, both now deceased.

She was very loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by: her beloved husband of 31 years, J. Weldon Clampitte; daughters Laurie Schumpert, husband Steve Schumpert; Lisa Newhouse, husband Brian Newhouse; Cheryl McLean husband Terry McLean; Terry Clampitte; daughter-in-law, Donna Clampitte, and four grandchildren: Justin Barnes, Madison Newhouse, Cameron Newhouse and Charles McLean, two sisters: Shirley Belveal, husband Milton and Bonnie Ivy, husband David. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother's Elton Lee and Cecil Eugene Lee, and son Joseph Clampitte Jr.

Laura retired from the Houston Police Dept in 1997 after being employed for thirty plus years in its Payroll Department. Laura was a devoted member and Past Matron of Bluebell Chapter # 856 O.E.S., and served as its Treasurer, a Past Queen of Tabeel Temple D.O.N. # 1972, and Banker. She was a member of The Chappell Hill United Methodist Church and a devoted Christian.

Laura was a very loving person who was always willing to help others. It seemed her goal in life was doing for others while putting them before her own cares and problems. Our heavenly father now has another helping angel.

Pall Bearers: Brian R. Dodson, Doug Lee, Mark Lee, Dwight Phillips, Mike Sampson, and John Sizemore. The family request that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the in Houston where she had volunteered for several years.

Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016.

Funeral Service 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 both in the Grand Chapel of Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home.

Interment in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
