ALEC COHOON, 58, DIES AFTER SHORT ILLNESS -- Alec Edward Cohoon, 58, resident at 330 South Coles Street, Vandalia, died at 6:40 p.m., Monday, Aug 6, at Fayette County Hospital where ha had been a patient four days.
Son of Neal Cohoon and the late Mary Miller Cohoon, Alec Edward was born April 14, 1904 at Herrick.
On March 2, 1924 at Effingham he was united in marriage with Cora Weaver, who survives as do also his father, Neal; daughters, Mrs. Norma Jean Smith and Mrs. Panzi Depew, both of Vandalia; son Alec Edward Jr. of Taylorville; 10 grandchildren; sister, Mrs Ethel Elder of Vandalia; half-brothers, Richard Miller of Peoria and Freddie Cohoon of Vandalia.
Mr. Cohoon was a member of the Vandalia Loyal Order of the Moose. For several he had been employed as a mechanic with the former Burtschi Motor Co., Vandalia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Aug 9, in Berry and Hohlt Funeral Home. Burial in Fair lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Wednesday.
