Miriam was a graduate of Hunter College, a registered nurse, a nursing school instructor, and from 1956-1972, a school nurse teacher in the Middletown, N.Y., school system.
In 1972 she retired with her husband, Arnold M. Sperl, to Sarasota, where she was a member of St. Andrew United Church of Christ.
She was survived by a son, Robert, of England; a daughter, Joan Furbish, of Sarasota, Fla.; two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service was held at 2:00 P.M. on Aug. 24, 2013, at St. Andrew United Church of Christ. Memorial donations were directed to St. Andrew United Church of Christ.
