Joel Albert Shipp, 73, of Winters, died Dec. 29, 2015.
He was born Feb. 26, 1943 in Denton County, Texas to Albert and Nelle Boykin Shipp. He grew up in Nolan and graduated from Divide High School in 1961. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam as an M.P. He had served as a deputy sheriff in Tom Green and McCulloch counties and later retired as a self employed welder.
He is survived by one son, Jason Albert Shipp of Paradise; his mother, Nelle Shipp of Rankin; two brothers, Jarrel Shipp and wife Julie of Abilene and Mike Shipp and wife Kay of Llano; and one sister, Nan Owen and husband Doug of Rankin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert; and three sisters, Martha, Toga and David.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
