After his career in the US Army, Larry worked as an Army JROTC instructor at Pennsylvania's Scotland School for Veterans Children and in a number of county, state, and national roles aiding and serving veterans. He retired from government service in 2005 as the US Department of Labor Veterans Employment and Training Services Director for the State of Pennsylvania.
As a lifelong labor Democrat and Zionist, Larry was involved with many local and state Democrat party chapters, numerous synagogue and Israel solidarity organizations, and was a relentless and passionate advocate and fighter for equal rights and dignity for all. Larry remained a diehard Philadelphia Phillies fan who loved to take in a game with family and friends and a bag of peanuts by his side. His love for baseball was only equaled by his love of reading, crossword puzzles, travel, lamb chops, bad puns, cocktails, and loud conversation.
Larry was buried with full military honors at Jacksonville National Cemetery on October 30. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine, two sons, Paul and Gerard, daughter-in-law, Michelle, and two grandsons, William and Nathaniel. Memorial donations may be made to Jerry Doliner Food Bank, 470 Andalusia Ave., Ormond Beach FL 32174.
